Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar

Off-late every radio station has a song singing praises of Modi, every hoarding has the face of Modi, every person's Facebook and Twitter feed is filled with comments about Modi. I'm sure most of you guys also feel taxed about this! Wherever we go, Modi follows! Thankfully he's not present on my cuppa coffee (phew!!)

I don’t have a problem with any party promoting a particular individual as their Prime Minister. In fact, it shows that the party is pretty sure about what it wants. My problem is with BJP's positioning  for this election. BJP has NO other positioning except vote for Modi. Highlighting a few key points as to why this is a problem for a common man:
  1. Modi has been talking of Gujarat! What he forgets is, if NDA comes into power and he becomes the PM, he will have to govern the entire country and  not one state!
  2. Modi believes that the Gujarat Model of development will work for all states. I'm not even getting into the fact that most of this "Vibrant Gujarat" image is a sham. What Modi forgets is that Maharashta's GDP is far better than Gujarat (Between 2004-5 and 2010-11, the Maharashtra GDP has expanded 2.49 times in nominal terms, Gujarat’s by 2.52 times), Maharashtra has better literacy rates and all this despite having a population larger than Gujarat and having more villages, towns and cities than Gujarat. If I go by the state development model, shouldn’t I vote for Congress again since their results in Maharashtra are better?

  1. 10 years ago when Sonia Gandhi stepped down from becoming the PM because there were so many talks about her being an :Italian", I'm not sure why should I vote for someone who has been charged (later found "not guilty") with mass murder and communal politics. Surely a person who divides India cannot be Indian!
  2. Assuming just for a minute that I am impressed with the "Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar" Campaign and decide that I have to vote for Modi this time, I will be  forced to vote for BJP even if the candidate in my constituency is horrible (which is true for many constituencies).
  3. Modi has been playing it safe! He has never spoken about important issues in his speeches like what exactly is his plan to bring down inflation or what will he do with LPG subsidy or how will he ensure that all of India gets 24x7 electricity and water, forget about him talking about Chinese incursions and increasing price of petrol/diesel/CNG.

I'm not saying that the other parties are better or that you should vote for them and not for BJP. All I'm saying is that a team is as strong as its weakest player!

Be responsible, cast your vote!

  3. This is lok sabha election and not the local elections so it matters whom do u send to the center.

So it only matters that Modiji gets a chance to form a govt. The local problems can be sorted out by state legislatives. But right now all India need is a powerful central govt. Which we are lacking for the past 10 years so yes you r right.. Be responsible for the country and cast your vote.

  4. Does maharashtra means only mumbai and pune ??? People in remote villages of maharashtra are dieing for 12 hours electricity. Many districts of maharashtra are drought affected. Can't you see that ? I am a maharashtrian but still I say gujarat is much far better than maharashtra. I wish maharashtra government could make maharashtra a corrupt free state.

Tripping with Coffee

This time, I do not come up with memories! No, I have not run out of them! I am doing some serious thinking on where my relationship with coffee is headed. I realize that it’s time to discuss what we want from life! No, I am not breaking up with Coffee but am just looking at ways to spice up our relationship. After a lot of thought, I feel a trip together will help strengthen the relationship. Of course coffee was a part of all my previous trips but it was just a PART! This time, I would want to go only with Coffee and have no one disturb us and I have selected the perfect location for this trip – Melbourne! A lot of people would wonder why Melbourne! You will think Australia is a place for deep sea diving, seeing some awesome coral reef and even surfing in some of the best waves in the world but COFFEE? Well for all those who don’t know a lot about Melbourne, here is some reasoning into why I would take my first trip with coffee to Melbourne. Melbourne is known for its ...

Why Ramayan is the worst story ever!

So it’s been a while since I have been thinking about this and finally decided to pen down my thoughts. This began on the day of Dussesrah when I was busy getting celebratory/festive wishes on Whatsapp. I was thinking about the popular, shorter version of the story of Ramayan and how warped it is.  So Ram, playing the ideal son, decided to give up his kingdom keeping in mind the insecurities of his step-mother; which is cool. But, did he discuss it out with Sita first? No! He just played the perfect   son, making his parents proud. Poor Sita! She just heard the decision taken by her husband and like a good wife (who may or may not have wanted to escape living with her in-laws) she followed Ram into a life of self-exile. That wasn’t enough when Ram’s younger brother, Lakshman decided to follow him. Again, there’s no one knows of his wife Mandavi, who decided NOT to follow her husband into the forest and live in the kingdom with her new family. May be she thought l...

Claiming My Life Back

Depressed, disjointed, struggling, irritable, irrationally angry. How many of us identify with these words? How many people have come up to us and asked us why are we so irritated all the time? How many times have our parents told us "You used to be a happy child. What happened to you suddenly?" There are many times we do not even know what these people are talking about. Most of us keep saying "I'm not irritated" or "I am not angry, I'm just emphasizing my point". And this, my friend, is a common problem all across. Of course some of us are actually going through problems like a bad break up or a horrible boss at work or other emotional issues. If you know the issue, well and good. But for the rest, who are not going through anything substantial, there's a major problem. The problem starts with social media. The first thing that most of us do every single day is wake up with our alarm clocks (after snoozing it for a couple of...
